What the client asked for

The brief

TFC Homeloans have been providing specialist mortgages for over 30 years. After the Covid-19 pandemic, the management team decided to set up a small regional hub office in the Warrington area. Local employees would use the office as a temporary workspace and an alternative to travelling into Manchester. With the new office being a short-term solution, the management team didn’t want to commit to a leased printer and approached Pay As You Go Print to discuss more flexible options.

The solution

The client explained their circumstances and the functionality they were looking for from a printer. Their business became paperless in 2018, operating digitally and online where possible. They still had an occasional need for printing but scanning documents was much more of a priority.

We recommended an A4 full-colour multifunctional printer with 4 paper trays and the ability to scan and email documents to their internal platform. Our team installed a reconditioned printer in February 2022 and demonstrated its key features. While their expected print volumes were low, on tracking usage we discovered the client’s print volumes were higher than estimated during the first couple of months. We flagged this to the client and agreed a new printing plan to cover the increased volume. This is all part of our flexible no-contract service – and also served as a good reminder to the team to monitor their printing behaviours in line with the company’s environmental objectives. We continue to monitor usage to help the client achieve their goals.

When we set up the temporary office, we didn’t need or want a brand new printer. Using refurbished machines and re-manufactured toner is a great way to keep printers and cartridges out of landfill. It aligns well with our environmental objectives and there’s no difference in performance between a refurbished and a brand new model.
